Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free, so why not join our community today ! Fire up a metronome. Pick the 6th string for 4 beats. Without stopping your picking hand, move to the 5th string for 4 beats. Go all the way to the 1st string and then back to the 6th and start over. Once you get the hang of that, try doing it without looking. For a different variation, try skipping strings. Go from the 6th to the 4th, then to the 5th and to the 3rd till you get to the 1st string. I think Tekker has a link to a metronome in his lessons. If not, just do a google search for one. Threre are a bunch online. But, I finally broke down and bought one (Korg MA-30). I think it was less than $20. The nice thing about having one on hand is I don't have to go to the computer to practice. Sometimes, I just like to get away from the computer. I picked up a Yamaha drum machine for $15 at a yard sale. Now I wouldn't use 80% of the 100 rythms it can do, BUT, the 20 I can use work like a charm to play scales or chords to. It's also alot more fun to practice to a beat. The cool thing is if it's going too fast for you, you can slow it down to a comfortable level. Metronomes are ok and I used one for a long time, but a drummer real or synthisized is a good motivational tool. Keep playing your guitar, you'll get it.
